(Because of our trip to Hawaii tomorrow this may be all that you get, and yes today is our 8 year anniversary!!!! For how much we love eachother just go read someone elses blog about their anniversary and then know that we love eachother even more :) Here's the letter:
Aloha friends and family – we hope you are all doing well. This Holiday season will find us with family in Hawaii. We hope it finds you with loved ones as well. For pictures from our trip and the latest in our lives, check out the blog after the New Year. Here are some highlights from 2008.
Jada –is growing up so fast! She’s in the first grade, but it feels like her first year in college as she is constantly helping me with my facts and correcting my spelling. Needless to say she has been blessed with a very intelligent mind. This year she had a few firsts; she learned to ride her bike, attended summer bible school @ a neighboring church, played on a soccer team, and sang with a microphone in front of a crowd (BEAUTIFUL voice). Jada loves to draw and create her own stories. She says she wants to be an author/illustrator when she grows up. She is a perfect mix between girly-girl and tomboy, but definitely prefers playing w/ boys. She continues to bless us by taking care of her brothers and reminding us what really matters.
Israel –is a great kid. His current loves are; anything RED, all superheroes, motorcycles, his blanket (which is, of course, red), playing the Wii at his best buddy Finn’s house, playing any sort of fighting game in which he wins (still working on being happy if he loses), and cuddling up at the end of the day for a good book. Israel is the first one to bed and the first one up, as early as 5:00 (I’m rolling my eyes). But because of his “gift” of waking up early he has the responsibility of taking out Oreo, our new puppy. He also earns money by picking up poop (10 cents/poop). Instead of seeing toys in dollar amounts, he sees them in amounts of poop:) hey whatever works!

Kawika – What can I say about this kid? He is an absolute JOY. He has such an easy going temperament and LOVES to entertain. You could argue that he gets that from either of his parents, but I will attribute it all to his siblings, they are great examples. He has a little bit of an eating problem… actually no problem, this kid LOVES to eat! When he is not eating, he is pretending to eat, okay maybe not THAT bad, but he is the first one to the table and the last one to leave as he finishes off any plates around him. However, he is very polite when it comes to his food, asking with “please mamma” and always ending with “da du mamma (or daddy).” This shows that his vocabulary is coming super fast.Donovan has been so blessed in his employment. In this time of economic madness, he couldn’t have found a better place to work than USAA. He also stays busy as the Elders Quorum President at church. And he spends every other minute with me and the kids. The stress of all his responsibilities can seldom be seen, except maybe in his hairline:).
At the beginning of the year we came up with a family motto (with a LOT of help from Jada; “We work together, we love each other, we be bad never, as a team forever, to infinity and beyond!” And there’s no one else that I’d rather spend eternity with than this group right here. We love this time of year to reflect on the greatest gift we’ve been given, our Heavenly Father’s Son. Our greatest wish for you is that you may feel of Their love for you now and throughout the new year.
With all our Love and Aloha --- Katie, Donovan, Jada, Israel, and Kawika
